AI search runs on the same foundations as SEO
Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT search, Gemini and Perplexity all answer questions by drawing on sources. Some rely on a search index, some on their own crawlers, most on a mix — but none of them invent your services, prices or reputation from nothing. They use what they can find, read and corroborate.
That makes AI search optimization an extension of good SEO, not a replacement for it. Pages that are blocked, slow, duplicated or vague are less likely to be used. Businesses with inconsistent information across the web are more likely to be described wrongly. The work below strengthens the signals both search engines and AI systems depend on.
What we can and can’t promise
No one can guarantee that your business will appear in an AI Overview, a ChatGPT answer or any other AI-generated result. Providers control these systems, change them frequently and produce different answers for similar questions. We don’t sell placements, “AI rankings” or hidden prompts. We remove the reasons an AI system might overlook or misrepresent you and build the credibility that makes you a sensible source to cite.
The levers that matter
1. Clear entities
AI systems need to know that your website, your Google Business Profile, your LinkedIn page and a mention in a trade publication all refer to the same business. We align your name, description, services, locations, founders and contact details wherever they appear, and connect them with valid Organization markup and sameAs links to your official profiles. For businesses with physical locations, this ties directly into local SEO.
2. Crawlable, indexable pages
Most AI answers depend on pages that are already crawled and indexed, and many AI crawlers don’t render JavaScript. Our technical SEO work makes sure important content is available in the HTML, loads quickly and isn’t held back by noindex tags, canonical mistakes or blocked resources. We also review robots.txt so that any AI crawler you want to allow isn’t blocked by an old rule or a security setting nobody remembers adding.
3. Authoritative, expert content
AI answers tend to draw on content that states things directly and can be trusted: what a service includes, how long it takes, what affects the cost, who it suits and who it doesn’t. We restructure key pages so those answers are easy to find, add named authors and reviewers with real credentials, and remove vague marketing copy. This overlaps closely with our SEO content service.
4. Structured information
Clear structure helps machines extract facts accurately. That means descriptive headings, short definitions, comparison tables, numbered steps and specific details instead of adjectives. Where it fits, we add schema.org markup — Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, Product, Article, FAQPage — and only when it matches what users see on the page. There is no special “AI schema”, and we don’t invent markup or hide content from visitors.
5. Brand mentions and citations
When an AI system recommends a provider, it often relies on what others say: industry publications, professional associations, review platforms, directories, partner sites, community discussions. We help you earn genuine mentions in the places your market actually reads. We don’t buy fake reviews, plant self-promotional posts disguised as independent opinion or build networks of low-quality mentions — those tactics damage trust with both people and platforms.
6. Original research and data
Content that only repeats what’s already published gives an AI system no reason to cite you rather than the original source. Original research does. A short customer survey, pricing benchmarks from your own projects, anonymised data your product generates or a clear methodology others can reference — each gives journalists, bloggers and AI answers something specific to point to. We help plan, publish and promote research that fits your expertise, with the method stated openly.
7. Topic authority
A single strong page on a topic helps. A connected set of pages that covers a subject thoroughly — the service, the common questions, the comparisons, the edge cases — helps more. We map the topics where you have genuine expertise and build them out in depth, linked together, rather than spreading thin content across everything.
What we won’t do
Some providers sell “GEO” or “AI ranking” packages built on shortcuts: hidden text written for machines, mass-produced pages that restate the same answer for every city and keyword, invented schema types, fake reviews or networks of paid mentions dressed up as independent recommendations. There is no reliable evidence that these tactics produce lasting results, and they put your reputation with search engines, AI providers and customers at risk.
We also won’t tell you that a single file, plugin or markup type is the key to AI visibility. The businesses AI systems describe well are usually the ones that are clearly defined, genuinely expert and talked about by others.
Who should invest in this now
AI search preparation matters most where customers research carefully before they buy: clinics and healthcare providers, professional and B2B services, SaaS products compared feature by feature and online stores where shoppers ask for recommendations. If that describes your customers, the work pays off twice — the same clarity that helps AI systems also helps human visitors decide.
Honest measurement
AI visibility is harder to measure than rankings, and anyone who shows you a precise “AI share of voice” number should explain how it was calculated. We combine:
- Search Console data for queries and pages, including trends on searches where AI features appear
- Referral traffic from AI tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, where your analytics can identify it
- Branded search trends, since people who hear about you in an AI answer often search for your name next
- Repeated prompt checks for the questions your customers ask, recorded over time — useful for spotting inaccuracies and competitor mentions, but indicative only, because answers vary by user, location and wording
